Happy Diwali |
The day is related to the traditional story of Lord Krishna slaying the demon Narakasura and rescuing 16,000 captive princesses.
As the princesses' chastity could be called into question, Lord Krishna married them all. The story shows that God wishes to take care of his people and offer them protection. Rice is used to make rangoli patterns on or before the day.
Naraka Chaturdashi (also known as Kali Chaudas, Roop Chaudas, Choti Diwali or Naraka Nivaran Chaturdashi) is a Hindu festival, which falls on Chaturdashi (14th day) of the Krishna Paksha in the Vikram Samvat Hindu calendar month of Ashvin. It is the second day of the five-day-long festival of Deepavali/Diwali. The Hindu literature narrates that the asura (demon) Narakasura was killed on this day by Krishna, Satyabhama and Kali.[1] The day is celebrated by early morning religious rituals and festivities follow on.
